The Church Administrative Assistant supports various aspects of ministry for the church by:
– Providing administrative support for clergy, staff, and laity, such as preparing Charge Conference Reports and Annual Reports
– Maintaining church calendar, membership database, and room reservations and setups
– Coordinating and communicating with various ministry groups within the church and outside vendors
– Answering phone calls and inquiries about the church
– Assisting with accounts payable and submission of credit card receipts and reconciliation
– Additional duties will be assigned pending ministry needs
Key Competencies:
– Proven organizational and leadership skills with strong verbal and written communication skills, bilingual in Spanish is preferred; ability to plan effectively, address complex issues, make decisions, delegate, and follow projects through to timely completion with minimal direction.
– Excellent computer proficiency – skilled in Word, Powerpoint, Publisher, Excel, Outlook, Google docs, Google forms, and gmail. Experience using ShelbyNext Membership and Financial databases, eSpace room reservation system, Planning Center, ProClaim, Canva, and quickly learning new applications.
– Maintain a high degree of professionalism, confidentiality, compassion, and care.
– Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience in a similar role at a United Methodist Church.
