The Texas Conference United Women in Faith continues to be actively involved in living out our purpose “to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ, to develop a creative, supportive fellowship, and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.”

As you will note, our name has changed! We are now United Women in Faith instead of United Methodist Women. Our name has changed more than 25 times since the organization was established in 1869. We are forging ahead boldly into new areas of how women today live their lives and how they choose to engage the world in faith.

We look on this as refreshment of our organization that includes a new look, a new feel, and new programming. We are still a sisterhood that nurtures one another and those around us, putting our love into action at home and around the world. While our legal name remains United Methodist Women, we are operating as United Women in Faith. We remain the official women’s organization of The United Methodist Church, training women for leadership, growing spiritually, transforming through education, and providing opportunities for service and advocacy. We remain women in mission who follow God’s call for our time.

We have inherited a rich legacy of women who pray for each other and are generous with their resources, diligent in turning faith, hope and love into action on behalf of women, children and youth around the world. As we move forward into the next 150 years, we are encouraged by our new name and symbol for our organization and will pray to connect with women who want to share in God’s work through participation in mission opportunities that are available through United Women in Faith
