Bishop Scott J. Jones called a special session of the Texas Annual Conference via zoom, beginning at:
- 7:00 pm, Tuesday, January 11, 2022.
On December 22, 2021, Bishop Jones announced that, “in accordance with paragraph 603.5 in the Book of Discipline, with support of 100% of our District Superintendents, I am calling this special session of the Texas Annual Conference for the purpose of considering how and whether the Texas Annual Conference will participate in the proposed settlement of the bankruptcy of the Boy Scouts of America.
“Such a settlement will require certain steps by us as a conference aimed at the healing of harm done to survivors and a just settlement of their financial claims. The agenda will be limited to this matter and will have as its action item a resolution recommended by the Board of Trustees and Council on Finance and Administration.”
An email has been sent to all Clergy and Lay Delegates to Annual Conference announcing the call and a separate email will be sent on January 4 for delegates to register for the Special Session. All delegates are reminded to check their inbox and all filtered mail boxes (spam, trash, archive, clutter, etc.) for an email from Click to email.
We want our delegates to have all the facts, so our team has prepared a brief history of the BSA bankruptcy process, a resolution to participate in the UMC BSA bankruptcy settlement, FAQs, and other information.
