Recent Storms Cause Damage Across Communities in the Texas Annual Conference

On April 22, a tornado touched down on the west coast of Lake Livingston in San Jacinto County.  According to the National Weather Service "It crossed the lake and struck the city of Onalaska and continued across much of Polk County." A local news site reported that "At least 20 people were injured and three people were killed after a tornado ripped through multiple neighborhoods in Onalaska in Polk County Wednesday evening, according to the Polk County Office of Emergency Management."

Rev. Jim Calvert, pastor of Onalaska UMC, said that the damage in the area was extensive and he was reaching out to church members and others in the community to assess needs to help where they could.

Linden Area Also Damaged
On the April 24th, Linden Texas - 3-hours to the North, experienced strong winds causing damage across the area. The National Weather Service says winds around 90 mph are to blame.
