Pray for Those Impacted by Laos Disaster
On July 24, a dam in southern Laos collapsed, completely destroying at least six villages and displacing thousands of residents. The Texas Annual Conference, through the shared episcopal leadership of Bishop Scott Jones, has a strong connection to the Lao Samphan Methodist Church and the four General Board of Global Ministries missionaries working in Laos. In fact, the dam collapse occurred on the last day of the four Laotian missionaries' visit to the Texas Annual Conference. Being no stranger to natural disasters, and having been the recipients of so much connectional generosity, the Texas Annual Conference now seeks to share our blessings with those in Laos affected by this horrible disaster.
Churches or individuals who wish to give to disaster relief in Laos may make financial contributions to "GBGM Advance #14927A, Laos Mission Initiative - Projects", earmarked "Disaster Relief." These monies will go to the GBGM missionaries in Laos to be used to assist those affected by this tragedy. Checks can be mailed to the Conference Treasurer's Office at 5215 Main St., Houston, TX 77002. Questions can be directed to Rev. Scott Moore, Director, Center for Missional Excellence, at 936-788-6650 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
