Pimentel named new Racial and Ethnic Ministry Coordinator

For immediate release – February 5, 2021Bishop Scott J. Jones announced that the Rev. Dayimi Pimentel has been appointed as the new Racial and Ethnic Ministry Coordinator beginning March 1, 2021. Pimentel currently serves as Associate Pastor at La Vid Comunidad Cristiana United Methodist Church in Galena Park, Texas.
“As a part of the Center for Leadership Formation, Dayimi and her team will be connecting our churches with Subject Matter Experts to enhance their ability to do ministry in diverse mission fields throughout the Conference,” said Rev. Morris Matthis, Director of the Center for Clergy Excellence.
Matthis went on to say that Pimentel’s role is multifaceted. In this position she will be supporting the districts in their ministry with people of all ethnicities as well as giving leadership to the Racial and Ethnic Ministries Team. She will also be working with existing ministry teams that are already engaging in Racial and Ethnic Ministries such as the Hispanic Church Initiative and the African American Church Initiative.
“I know Dayimi is looking forward to meeting everyone as she supports our churches and districts as we continue to initiate racial and ethnic ministries within our mission fields,” said Matthis.
