Annual Christian Unity Service

The annual Houston-area ecumenical Service of Prayer for Christian Unity will be Wednesday, Jan. 18, at Christ Church Cathedral in downtown Houston.  The service observes the annual Week of Prayer for Christian Unity.  The evening will begin with Evensong, sung by the Cathedral Choir, at 6:30 p.m.; the Prayer Service begins at 7:00 p.m.
The Very Reverend Barkley S. Thompson, dean of Christ Church Cathedral will be delivering the sermon. This year’s theme is “Reconciliation – The Love of Christ Compels Us, “  based on 2 Corinthians 5:14-20. At least 13 denominations are participating in the planning and leadership of the service. The annual Week of Prayer for Christian Unity begins on Jan. 18 and concludes on Jan. 25.  For
more than 100 years, Christians around the world have gathered during this octave to offer prayers for unity in the Christian Church.
