A Fast-Paced Immersion in United Methodist History, Doctrine, and Polity
In January 2019, Perkins School of Theology will be offering a hybrid continuing education United Methodist Studies course. This course is especially appropriate for educating UM confirmation teachers and UM church staff who don’t have a Methodist background. It will discuss United Methodist history, doctrine, and polity (church organization). The first offering of this course last year was a smash success. Here’s a testimony: https://smu.app.box.com/v/umcstudiespromo19
You can get more information at: https://www.smu.edu/Perkins/PublicPrograms/UM-Studies-Course. Please forward this link to anyone you think might be interested in the course for themselves, for their confirmation teaching, and/or their church staff.
FYI This is not the same as the courses in United Methodist history, doctrine, and polity that count for ordination in the UMC. This is designed for lay people and church professionals who are not pursuing ordination but need a richer understanding of the history and ethos of the UMC.
