Richard Aslanian, former Director of Opera for Baylor University, and current Director of Music for Strawbridge United Methodist Church, has leveraged his prominence in world of opera to secure two renowned vocalists for his upcoming performance of Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem in D Minor. The Requiem will feature soprano, Yuri Maria Saenz, and Baritone, Tommy Ajai George, along with orchestra, the Strawbridge Chancel Choir, and Mr. Zane Barra on organ.

Richard Aslanian is notably the first American to guest conduct at the Armenian National Opera, one of the leading opera houses of the former Soviet Republic. A native Houstonian, Tommy has performed numerous roles with Houston Grand Opera. Gabriel Fauré composed his Requiem in D minor, Op. 48, between 1887 and 1890. A short requiem lasting 35 minutes, it is written for orchestra, organ, mixed chorus and two soloists, soprano and baritone. It consists of seven movements; most famous is the central soprano aria Pie Jesu.

This one-time performance will be free and open to the public on Sunday, April 14 at 9 a.m. at Strawbridge United Methodist Church, located at 5629 Kingwood Dr. (at Willow Terrace). Childcare will be provided. More information at:
