Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Legacy Celebration Brunch January 20

 “Paying It Forward: The Gift of Life” is the theme for the upcoming Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Brunch from 10:30 am- 12:30 pm at The Power Center, 12401 Post Oak, Houston, 77045. The Annual MLK Holiday Breakfast has been changed for 2014 to the “MLK Brunch and Mission Project” sponsored by Black Methodists for Church Renewal (BMCR), an Advocacy Caucus of the United Methodist Church.  This Mission of Love through Knowledge (MLK) of bone marrow and organ donation is encouraged as a service event for all.


BMCR President Juanita Jackson is thankful that Americans across the country can come together on MLK Day by giving service to their community.  Beginning with the brunch, you are invited to join BMCR throughout the next year in our endeavor,” she says. “In honor of Dr. King’s values and beliefs, brunch proceeds will be used to fund youth mission projects, provide scholarships/stipends for youth, clergy and lay attending church related leadership events, youth social activities, as well as groups that reach out to marginalized and disenfranchised individuals.”


Vendors representing donor organizations such as The Gift of Life (Organ Donations /gift forms), Houston Blood Bank, DNA swabs to identify the probability of being a bone marrow match, educational materials and presentations will be available on sight to those interested in becoming a lifesaving donor.  Everyone is invited to share in this mission for life, by sponsoring a table of ten or as an individual patron. Table sponsorships include:   

Platinum Table - $1000

Gold Table - $750

Silver Table - $500

Bronze Table -$300

Individual ticket - $30
