Westbury UMC Offers Conference for Families and Educators

Date Posted: 1/21/2015

Westbury United Methodist Church in Houston will host a Family Conference - a day planned with parents, teachers and caregivers in mind, on Saturday, February 7.

"It's a chance to learn and refresh our skills--whether you're a parent, grandparent, educator or really anyone who interacts with children," says co-organizer, Hillary Peete, who serves as director of children's ministry at Westbury UMC.

The conference will feature a variety of topics from local experts in child development, psychology and education.

Co-organizer Josh Lemons, Westbury UMC's director of youth ministry, adds, "We've selected sessions that should appeal to families in different stages and circumstances of life. Some of the sessions are geared toward brand new parents ('Baby Makes Three'), parents of teens ('Dial Down the Drama') and parents of school-aged children ('Choices in Education'), just to name a few."

The event is scheduled for 9 a.m. until 2:30 p.m, and the cost is $25 per participant. This covers registration for three informative sessions, lunch and childcare for kids ages 7 and younger.

Advance registration is required. See a full list of sessions and speakers and sign up online at www.westburyumc.org/family-conference-2015
