Retreat: Reflection in the Water
Memorial Drive UMC is hosting Reflection in the Water – a retreat featuring Terry Hershey on November 15, from 9 AM - 2 PM.
There will always be some voice telling me that whoever I am today is not enough. The challenge is accepting the reality that every one of us has the capacity for bounteousness. Yes, we want to love other people without holding back. We want to feel authentic. We want to breathe in the beauty
around us. And yet; we listen to inner voices that keep our life small. We live stuck. But what if we are truly the reflection of God in this world? What if, as children of God, there are resources to draw upon—a reservoir of kindness, compassion, hope and resilience? Resources that make a difference in our world. Can we return to the truth of who we really are—to lovingly accept the humanity entrusted to us? Am I willing to be loved for being this me? Am I willing to spill that love to those around me?
TERRY HERSHEY—author, humorist, inspirational speaker, dad, ordained minister, golf addict, and smitten by French wine. He divides his time between designing sanctuary gardens and sharing
his practice of “pausing” and “sanctuary,” to help us do less and live more. Terry’s book, The Power of Pause, offers the permission to slow down and to be gentle with ourselves, in a world that demands More-Bigger-Faster. Most days, you can find Terry out in his garden–on Vashon Island in the Puget Sound—because he believes that there is something fundamentally spiritual about dirt under your fingernails.
