‘Get Swept Away’

Date Posted: 5/31/2011

Dr. Robert Childress, senior pastor of Covenant Glenn UMC in Missouri City, challenged members of the Texas Annual Conference to get swept away by God’s “refreshing, cleansing, rejuvenating and healing waters.”

Continuing the emphasis of remembering and being faithful to our baptism, Monday night’s worship focused on the prophet Ezekiel’s vision of being swept away by God’s waters, which progress from being ankle high to knee deep to waist high and finally, impassable. Childress likened these phases to stepping into God’s flow; establishing a soul sustaining prayer life and ultimately moving toward the point where the water is in control.

“The good thing is we don’t have to reinvent God’s flow, we just have to step in the flow of what God is already doing,” he said.
