Harleton UMC Rises to the Challenge
When Harleton UMC learned that a family of five was sharing one toothbrush, they jumped into action to package over 50 student hygiene kits for the local school district to use as needed. “A counselor from the school system told us that many of the students do not have the basic necessities ranging from soap to underwear, so we requested a grant from the local Family Dollar Store and they have agreed to support our local youth mission effort,” says Pastor Joe Turner.
“We are continually collecting items, and the response has been very gratifying.” Responding the Bishop Huie’s challenge for all churches to “Invest in the Young” by connecting with their local school, Harleton UMC is making a difference. “We are working hard to reach out to the schools here. Schools offer many opportunities for missions!”
