Hispanic Ministries to Collaborate in Worship October 6

Date Posted: 9/13/2012

Creating community to share the love of Christ with one another and the world is the goal of the 2nd Annual Joint Hispanic Worship service planned for October 6 at the Gethsemane campus of St. Luke’s UMC at 6856 Bellaire Blvd, Hou, Tx 77074. “With the rapidly changing demographic landscape of Texas, the Centers for Missional and Congregational Excellence are partnering to strengthen Hispanic ministries that are budding across the state and to help congregations reach their local communities for Christ.

We are in an exciting ‘Acts 2’ moment in history in which God has assembled the nations within the bounds of the Texas Annual Conference! We are privileged to partner with these communities in all of their cultural richness and diversity to share the good news of Jesus Christ in a way that transforms lives in body, mind and spirit so that whole persons and communities experience the grace and abundance of Christ.

This event invites all churches within the Texas Annual Conference, not just our Hispanic congregations, to join our Hispanic brothers and sisters for group fellowship and worship that affirms the Gospel message of God’s love for the whole world and then returns us re-energized to our various churches and communities to expand our reach to others.” says Diane McGehee, Director of Missional Excellence. “We are particularly excited to offer a program for the children age 4-12 this year, so that they will have spiritual insight and fun with others their age.

A nursery for younger children will also be offered” The theme for this joint service is “For God so Loved the World.” It begins at 5:30 pm with a light dinner followed by worship at 6:30 pm. The service will be offered in Spanish, but English translations will be available. We hope you will join us!

Please rsvp to sbroome@txcumc.org with the number of adults, children 4-12, and infants so that we can get a good count for dinner and childcare.
