Quick Response Codes
As of March 2012, a majority (50.4%) of U.S. mobile subscribers own smartphones, up from 47.8 percent in December 2011 and that figure is moving steadily upwards.*
This year we expect people walking around Annual Conference with tablets, smart phones and other devices equipped to download and display files for immediate use. These gadgets also come equipped with the technology to read QR (quick response) codes - square bar codes that can be scanned to direct the user to a website, contact information or a file to download. (Often an app must be downloaded from the devices app store to read these codes. Search for QR to find suitable apps.)
During Annual Conference 2012, we will be displaying QR codes at registration and other high-traffic areas so that those wishing to make use of this technology can be directed to relevant digital resources. Links to these resources will also be made available during conference for laptop users through the conference website txcumc.org.
