Shanda Levingston to Become Center North District Adminstrative Assistant in June

Date Posted: 5/22/2014

After Doris Folser retires from her post in the Central North District office at the end of May, Shanda Levingston will take the baton, leaving her position as BOM Candidacy Manager for the Conference. Shanda, wife of Reverend Kenneth Levingston of Jones Memorial UMC, joined the conference staff in 2010.
Rev. Gail Ford Smith, Center Director of Clergy Excellence, says, “We grieve losing such a joyous worker for Christ who knew every candidate for ministry by name and loved them through the process.  We will miss Shanda’s smiling face and heart filled with the joy of the Lord.”
In similar fashion, Morris is saddened to bid Doris farewell, but he is thrilled about Shanda’s acceptance of the position. “Shanda comes to us with knowledge of the Conference, experience in the local church, and with the heart of someone who is ready to serve.  I know she will be an outstanding addition to our district.  She will begin her ministry on Thursday, June 12th.”
Doris' retirement farewell celebration will be on Wednesday, June 11 between 11:30- 1:30 pm at the Woodlands UMC. Doris worked for various churches in the Houston area before taking the position of Administrative Assistant in the Houston Northwest District in 1994. She remained in that position until the districts were reduced in 2006 from 12 to nine. At that time she became the Administrative Assistant for the newly formed Central North District.  She has worked for six District Superintendents in the past 20 years. “We invite you to come celebrate this awesome lady on June 11,” adds District Superintendent Morris Matthis.
