UMCOR: NEW FUNDING FOR JAPAN, HAITI During last week’s semiannual board of directors meeting, UMCOR directors approved significant funding to confront emergencies in Japan and Haiti, and also advanced the process of defining a new vision for the organization.   Grants include $150,000 to the Asian Rural Institute, a longtime UMCOR partner in Japan. United Methodists are opening their hearts, wallets and doors to people affected by violent storms that cut across the southern United States. Between April 14 and April 16, hundreds of tornadoes leveled homes, toppled trees and ripped through churches in 14 states.
