Scott Jones and a roster of other distinguished speakers will cover a variety of topics in our next round of webinars, ranging from the organization of the United Methodist Church to social media discipleship to the future of the post-pandemic church.

Connected to Christ, Connected to Others with Bishop Scott Jones

.

Each Friday in February, Bishop Scott Jones will host a webinar exploring the inner workings of the United Methodist Church and answering questions about organizational structures.

.

“How do we follow Jesus? How do we stay connected like he asked us to? We do that by being part of His church,” Jones explained.

.

Topics will include bishops and apportionments, United Methodist beliefs about social issues and the itinerate system. Why do United Methodists talk so much about money? Why are we a worldwide Church?

.

Bishop Jones will delve into a number of topics that will appeal to pastors and leaders in the United Methodist Church. “Do you still have questions? Well, we have answers,” Jones said.

From Social Media to Social Discipleship with Facebook’s Nona Jones

.

“Online church” is searched millions of times each month, but a number of churches are still not on-line or using technological tools correctly.

.

On 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, Nona Jones, Facebook’s head of global-faith based partnerships, will present a one-hour webinar exploring ways to use the Internet to attract and disciple individuals in your community in brand new ways. Space is limited, and churches are asked to limit access to five people per congregation to allow other conferences to join.

Jones will cover topics from her book, “From Social Media to Social Ministry: A Guide to Online Discipleship,” including how churches can use Facebook Live and Facebook Groups to interact with the community. She also will define Learning Units and discuss how to use them to disciple members and attract new people.

The final 15 minutes of the one-hour session will be dedicated to answering questions from participants. Priority will be given to questions sent ahead of time to by the deadline of 5 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 8 to .
