Process for a Congregation to Request a Ministry Specialist:
A congregation will submit a Congregational Application for Ministry Specialist Form.
- Next steps discussions will include communication of clear expectations, desired outcomes, and anticipated results with the Congregational Leader, District Superintendent, Pastor, and Associate Director of Church Leadership. Additional conversations will focus on:
- preferred Ministry Specialist.
- the number of hours of engagement expected,
- the total amount paid by the Conference or District to the Ministry Specialist,
- the timeline to engage with one another and
- the expectation of post completion evaluation assessments from the Ministry Specialist, Pastor and Congregational Leader.
A Ministry Specialist is identified and contacted by the Office of the Associate Director of Church Leadership. Discussions with the Ministry Specialist around the church’s needs and requests will be shared.
- Once the Congregational Leader, District Superintendent, Ministry Specialist, Pastor, and the Associate Director for Church Leadership agree, a covenant will be drafted. All parties will sign including:
- Congregational Leader
- District Superintendent
- Ministry Specialist
- Pastor
- Associate Director of Church Leadership
The first consultation by the Ministry Specialist will be engaged and fully paid using the conference funds including travel. Additionally, $30 reimbursable (for expenses) and housing will be included, if applicable.
- Additional sessions with the Ministry Specialist for further discussion or implementation, using district or conference funds, will be at the discretion of the Church Leader, District Superintendent, Ministry Specialist, Pastor, and the Associate Director for Church Leadership.
- Additional sessions with the Ministry Specialist for further discussion or implementation, using the church’s funds solely, will be at the discretion of the Church Leader, Ministry Specialist, Pastor, and the Associate Director of Church Leadership.
