Human Trafficking Ministry Opportunities
You are the Light! It is time to shine into the darkness of human trafficking!
Human Trafficking is epidemic in the world and Texas is no exception.
In the state of Texas an estimated 79,000 children and youth are currently victims of commercial sex trafficking. That’s more children than almost the entire population of Longview and more than Spring, Galveston, or Huntsville. And 79,000 is an estimate which would increase dramatically if all the children being sexually exploited by their own families was known and included.
Human trafficking is the fastest growing organized criminal activity in the U.S. making almost $150 billion a year. The average age of entry for a child is 12-14 years of age. Houston is a hub of activity, but this evil is happening everywhere, in every community, in your community!
The commercial sexual exploitation of children and youth and adults is supplied to meet the demand. It is time for this evil to be eradicated in our society. And if this darkness is going to be overcome, then the church, those bearing the light of Christ, are called to get involved.

There are many agencies that you and your church can partner with, listed below are just a few opportunities:
Rescue: Through direct outreach and our 24/7 hotline, we connect with survivors ready to exit the life and help facilitate their safe exit alongside trained professionals.
Revive: Upon exit, survivors are transported to a secure location where their most pressing and practical needs are the priority: food, water, sleep, and safekeeping.
Empower: Based on individual assessments, survivors then find stabilization by working with licensed therapists who help address their mental, emotional, and spiritual needs, for long-term placement in partner homes across the US. https://rescueamerica.ngo/about-us
Their focus is to meet the needs of victims of commercial sexual exploitation in the greater Houston area. www.redeemedministries.com
Redeemed Ministry offers free presentations to educate and engage individuals, small groups, and congregations to present ways your church can be involved and aware of the concerns in your community. They can schedule a presentation to your ministry staff first and then present to your congregation in an informal information night presentation which will meet with your approval. The Landing walks alongside survivors of human trafficking and sexual exploitation as they take steps toward safety, healing, and freedom. By welcoming survivors into our drop-in center, providing them with an advocate, or reaching out to them, we intend to meet people where they are-wherever it may be-and support them throughout their journey. https://thelanding.org/

This is a voluntary, faith-based program serving victims of sex trafficking and women in the sex industry free of charge. Women who have been physically, emotionally, and sexually abused as well as those coming from jail will find a haven at Rahab’s Retreat & Ranch.
We serve women of all socioeconomic backgrounds as well as women who have children. We also serve those who face a combination of life-controlling issues such as self-harm, drug and alcohol addictions, depression, unplanned pregnancy, and homeless and broken women.
Rahab’s Retreat & Ranch is different because we offer a recovery program as well as transitional care for the new life to come. We have Biblical counseling and classes, training on life skills, money management courses, educational and employment opportunities, nutrition and fitness training, pet therapy, and more!
