Dig In

Cultivating generosity in a small church can be challenging at best. Often, there is not enough money in your church to ask for large gifts, much less a tithe. And the last time we checked, there were not any money trees growing behind your church!

So, to give you additional tools to take you to the next level financially, we have put together a one-day workshop designed for the small church pastor. Growing in Generosity will give you tools dig in and grow your congregation in their giving - producing a more confident ministry team.

Why should I come?

To learn together as pastors from an expert in the field. The workshop will sharpen your financial skills personally and as a senior pastor.

When and where is the workshop?

Choose from one of these workshops:

August 22, 2019  Dayton First UMC

August 23, 2019  First UMC Navasota

August 24, 2019  Longview Winterfield UMC

Workshops are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Who is teaching the workshop?

Stewardship aficionado, author and pastor Dr. Scott McKenzie, with Horizons Stewardship will be leading our workshop. Dr. McKenzie passionately believes stewardship is a question of faith development and discipleship. As a national workshop leader and conference speaker, he teaches stewardship as “grounded in gratitude, revealed in prayer and lived in faith.”

How much is it?

The workshop is free. The one-day workshop has been provided to our Texas Annual Conference pastors by a generous grant from Wespath.

Who should I bring with me?

Just you and any other United Methodist clergy from your church. There will be a second phase of Growing in Generosity that will engage lay members of your church through the recruitment of Generosity Teams.

Will lunch be provided?

Yes.

Will there be childcare

No.

Who do I contact if I have other questions?
