Tropical Storm Imelda stalled over Southeast Texas on September 18, 2019, dropping 43 inches of rain throughout day and night. By 11:00 p.m. that evening, water had risen in two Southeast District parsonages, and the pastors and their families were forced to evacuate. They soon discovered the churches they serve, FUMC Winnie and FUMC Vidor, were also flooded.

In my role as Coordinator of Mission Field Development for the Texas Annual Conference, I don’t lead a church, but I support the work of 29 Hispanic churches in different missional growth stages in our conference. This year, all our Hispanic churches are doing something to connect with their communities as they celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month.
All those who are serving under episcopal appointment within the Texas Annual Conference must attend one of the upcoming Sexual Ethics Trainings in early 2020 to remain in good standing.
