Just because they’re pastors doesn’t stop them from hitting the track or competing in a race. These reverends who run find that heading outside for a jog helps relieve stress and also provides health benefits. They also find parallels with running and their faith – or even get inspiration for an upcoming sermon while on the go.

Strategic Mapping Team Update

One of the first steps to being the best steward possible for Texas Annual Conference resources is listening to what members have to say. That’s why the Strategic Mapping Team has made receiving feedback a top priority. The results are now in from both last fall’s listening sessions and an online survey. The next steps are synthesizing the vision, approving and incorporating new ideas and charting a plan for action – all in an effort to ensure the Conference can better accomplish its mission.

Losing Sight While Leaning on Faith

Looking at Hillary Oswald, it would be almost impossible to know that she might be having trouble looking back at you. There are only subtle indications that her sight is fading – except her ever-present guide dog Alika provides a clue. Oswald leans on faith – her family and her church – as she moves full steam ahead.

Pastor New Year’s Resolution: Help Churches Address Foster Care Needs

Rev. Amy Bezecny has a few New Year’s resolutions for the non-profit she founded, Cultivating Families. The organization seeks to inspire faith-based communities to get more involved with helping foster and adopted children and their families. This year, she hopes to bring even more churches on board to continue to address what continues to be a pressing need.

Through a grant from the Methodist Hospital System, Jessica N. Somerville started this week as the Wellness Director for the Texas Annual Conference Church and Community Health Initiative.

Sustaining Faith Partnerships with Latin America

The Encounter with Christ Permanent Fund of GBGM on behalf of mission partnership with Methodist Churches in Latin America and the Caribbean has now distributed one million dollars in mission partnership support for mission outreach from interest monies from the Encounter fund with churches of some 26 countries of the Latin America/ Caribbean region.
