Annual Conference 2021 is right around the corner

We have all come through a very difficult year as a Church. As an Annual Conference, we are looking forward to coming together to worship, fellowship and have our business sessions again virtually to bring Faith Hope and Love to one another.  So delegates be sure to download your pre-conference journal, the addendum and the guidebook app, and be sure you are registered by checking your April 1st email from Jan Ervin as registration closes May 23. Let's get ready for Annual Conference 2021.

Should we close the church or revive it?

Revive! is the new name selected for the transformation of the church formerly known as First UMC Pasadena. “It’s a verb,” Pastor Arturo “Artie” Cadar explained. Revive! is all about bringing new life to the congregation and the community that surrounds it. The church’s new name also speaks to the restorative power of Christ.

Churches vaccinate the vulnerable

Churches in the Texas Annual Conference are rolling up their sleeves and transforming into vaccination sites, an effort of the Church and Community Health Initiative. Already, hundreds have received vaccines as a result.

Church builds diversity despite crises

Pastor Leo Tyler arrived at Bear Creek UMC only weeks before Hurricane Harvey hit Houston. For the past year, he’s been dealing with a whole other kind of storm, COVID19. Through it all, the leader has stayed focused on his mission – to build diversity at the congregation. By serving more individuals in the community, regardless of ethnicity, age, gender or background, Bear Creek UMC has become stronger, Tyler said. Despite the obstacles, he remains undeterred in helping the church achieve its goals.

TAC 2021 FAQs

Last year we introduced our virtual session of Annual Conference with the acknowledgement, “We’ve Never Done It This Way Before.” This year’s session will be more like, “Didn’t We Do Something Like This Last Time.” Our amazing Tech Team helped to develop a list of Frequently Asked Questions to make this year’s session easier for you.

Find Worship Online

Looking for a way to worship without leaving the house?

A number of churches in the Texas Annual Conference are posting sermons online.

You don’t have to miss a service if you’re out of town or if you prefer to stay at home. Viewers can also enjoy multiple preaching styles and even virtually “attend” different churches. There’s a lot going on Sundays in the TAC that you won’t want to miss.
Sermons are often available to livestream on Sunday and several congregations also record services for on-demand viewing. Check them out at: https://www.txcumc.org/sermons

We would like to include your church in this list. Please let us know if you are posting a resource online by sending a link to: communications@txcumc.org
