Purpose of Lay Servant Ministries – To offer lay leadership resources, programs, and trainings to equip and empower Laity for their roles in ministry as disciples of Jesus Christ.
The three lay servant ministry certifications are:  
Certified Lay Servant
Certified Lay Speaker
Certified Lay Minister


COURSES to be offered:

The BASIC Course with instructor Certified Lay Minister, Dr. Joan Appleton,

Introduction to Lay Ministry. This course is foundational for all courses in Lay Servant Ministries. Participants are encouraged to discover and employ personal spiritual gifts as God intended and to consider the importance of exercising servant leadership, developing future leaders, remaining accountable in their discipleship.

Advanced Course: For the Common Good: Discovering and Using Your Spiritual Gifts with instructor:  Rev. Alan Van Hooser of Friendship United Methodist Church. This course offers a scriptural understanding of spiritual gifts as always given “for the common good.” Participants will learn to identify and link their gifts, abilities, and sense of calling; the power of connection; and spiritual gifts discernment to equip mission-focused leaders who make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
