Texas Annual Conference: Our Vision

Vibrant, growing congregations changing lives and reshaping futures for Jesus Christ.

Texas Annual Conference: Our Mission

Equip congregations to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation

of the world to the glory of God.

Center for Congregational Excellence: Our Purpose

is to connect and equip local congregations and new church start leaders with tools and resources for congregational revitalization, transformation and vitality in communities they serve. Two main priorities of the Center for Congregational Excellence are new church development and congregational transformation / revitalization.

Child Care Workers for Annual Conference

Application are currently being taken for child care workers for our 2019 session of Annual Conference. This year, the people called Methodists of the Texas Annual Conference will gather at the Hilton Americas – Houston May 26-29. Caregivers are needed for infants, toddlers, preschool, and school-aged children. For more information on these positions, contact Stephanie Denham, Conference Child Care Coordinator, at stephanie@fumcbeaumont.org.

Connectional VBS

Vacation Bible Schools are a great way to share the hope of Christ with children and families throughout the Texas Annual Conference. While many of our churches have access to seemingly limitless resources to bring the message to life, other churches struggle to access even the most basic supplies necessary for this ministry to those in their neighborhoods and communities. Since one of the goals of We Love All God’s Children is to equip local churches with needed resources for ministries such as Vacation Bible School, we are asking churches with the ability to share VBS resources at the close of the big week to list that availability so that churches with need might make use of your sets, CDs, decorations, craft supplies, etc. To be part of our Connectional VBS, please send your church name and contact information, date of your VBS, and which VBS you are using (To Mars and Beyond, Whoosh, Roar, etc.) to jdaniel@txcumc.org. Beginning April 1st, we will post the data to our website (txcumc.org/love) so that churches may contact one another to make arrangements for sharing. Still have VBS leftovers from years past? Feel free to share those resources as well!

Texas Youth Academy (TYA) is unique in its profound confidence of teenagers' capacities for theological leadership and a commitment to giving these young people concrete opportunities to put this into practice. Each opportunity cultivates adolescents’ ability to wrestle with thorny theological subjects, giving them confidence in their faith

agency.  They also encounter a myriad of ways in which others live their lives for God.

Spirit Journey – A Spiritual Renewal Experience

Spirit Journey is a 3 day, 2 night faith-enriching experience presented in conjunction with the Texas Conference and Upper Room Ministries. In its fourteenth year, Spirit Journey is headed up by a team of lay and clergy from across the Conference.

It will be held October 17-19 at Lakeview Conference Center, this year’s presenter will be Amy Oden, Ph.D. who is currently a professor at Saint Paul Seminary in Oklahoma City, OK. Dr. Oden is a sought-out speaker and retreat leader and will lead from her most current book, Right Here Right Now: The Practice of Christian Mindfulness. She will guide retreat participants in rediscovering the ancient Christian practice of mindfulness. Prayerful attention to God’s presence “right here right now” leads us deeper into our relationship with our Creator.
