Associate Music Director, Acton UMC



  • Must be a follower of Jesus Christ, exhibiting a growing relationship and spiritual maturity. Committed to continuing spiritual, personal, and professional development
  • Must understand and have a commitment to the vision of Acton UMC
  • Must be teachable with willingness to grow and learn 
  • Must be a team player and a strong leader, possessing strong team building skills
  • Must have a strong knowledge of music both vocally and instrumentally 
  • Must possesses good communication skills: written, verbal, and interpersonal
  • Must be skilled in working with Planning Center Online 
  • Must be a person who can follow directions, follow through with commitments, and see things through to completion. Being dependable, self-motivated, and comfortable taking initiative
  • Able to work with all demographics 
  • Must be willing to work some evenings, weekends, and extra hours when needed within reason


  • Directs Bell Choir and Children’s Choir
  • Assists the Minister of Music with Chancel Choir rehearsals
  • Assists the Minister of Music with Youth Choir (as needed)
  • Assists the Minister of Music with Praise & Worship Choir (as needed)
  • Plays organ/piano for worship services
  • Plays organ/piano at seasonal and special services, weddings and funerals.
  • Oversees the maintenance of the music library 
  • Supervises the volunteer Clerks
  • Helps recruit, train, and develop musicians and singers at AUMC
  • Assists the Minister of Music with administrative duties (make copies, order supplies, etc)
  • Other duties as assigned 


  • Master’s Degree in music, music education, or related field is preferred but not required with adequate work experience. 
  • Three – five years of related work experience in a faith-based setting casting vision and implementing a successful music ministry and worship experience.
