At the Texas Conference Course of Study's May session, two long-time leaders were honored for their years of service.  Rev. Stephanie Scott retired as a director and an instructor.  She served as a director since 2016 and as an instructor since 2008.  Rev. Dr. George Atkinson also retired as an instructor, after serving since 2016.  Both retirees plan to be substitute teachers as the need arises.  Both were honored during worship at First United Methodist Church in Lufkin on May 14 and given numerous gifts and cards as expressions of love and gratitude.

The new Co-Directors for Course of Study are Rev. Dr. Rita Sims and Rev. Dr. Francis Guidry.  Dr. Sims began her duties in January, 2022, and Dr. Guidry began in June, 2022.  Dr. Sims has been an instructor at the school for close to ten years; while Dr. Guidry is excited to begin her association with the school this year.  This Course of Study is an extension of SMU Perkins School of Theology.

Any part-time local pastors needing to complete their educational requirements in this Annual Conference or any of the surrounding Annual Conferences are encouraged to enroll in the Fall 2022 session.  It meets on September 10, October 8, and November 12 at First United Methodist Church in Lufkin.  The registration ends on August 10.  Registration forms may be obtained at district offices or through the following link:  https://www.txcumc.org/cos-extension-school
