Community Christmas Candlelight Service Sunday, December 20 at Grace Crossing UMC in Longview
All are invited to sing and hear the Good News of Christmas at the eighth annual Community Christmas Candlelight Service on Sunday, December 20th at 6pm at Grace Crossing United Methodist Church, 1001 W. Hawkins Parkway in Longview.
Grace Crossing sponsors this service each year to give the community a chance to come together and celebrate the Christmas season. The theme this year is “Vintage Christmas.”
“Many people are travelling on Christmas Eve and don’t have a chance to attend a worship service,” said Dr. John Whitehurst, pastor. “There are also many people who don’t have a church home who would like to experience a candlelight service at Christmastime, so we decided to offer a service that is open to the entire community.”
The family-friendly service will include worship led by a live band, the reading of God’s word and communion. A highlight of the evening is the annual candlelit singing of “Silent Night.”
Additionally, attendees will have a chance to donate to a special Christmas Offering that will benefit Asbury House, a local child enrichment center; Water for Life, an organization that helps communities develop safe and sustainable water sources; and UMCOR, the disaster relief organization of the United Methodist Church.
“This is a great time during the busyness of the season for the family to come together to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ,” Whitehurst said.
Please see the event website at www.communitycandle.com for additional information.
This service is Grace Crossing's signature event for the community and is a highlight of the year.
