Safe Sanctuary Updates for the Texas Annual Conference
The Safe Sanctuary Committee has approved an addendum to the Conference Safe Sanctuary Policy for all conference and district events. The purpose of the addendum is to combine the Conference Policy and the Lakeview Policy to meet the state requirements as well as provide the state required certification for all youth camp workers and volunteers.
The implementation of the addendum will begin March 1, 2014. To complete the Safe Sanctuary process, all staff and volunteers will be required to complete a 1-hour on-line training and fulfill additional certification requirements. The on-line training will include two steps: 1) read the conference Safe Sanctuary policy at www.txcumc.org/sspolicy and procedure document and 2) take the on-line training at www.trainright.org.
The on-line training will automatically generate a certificate with the user’s name, date of birth, and completion date. The additional certification requirements include an annual background check and Safe Sanctuary training.
