New Year: New Campus for Grace Fellowship 'Norte'

Date Posted: 11/26/2013

Retirement can’t get here fast enough. Grace UMC member Pic Pixley is leaving 15 years in accounting and 22 years in teaching to pursue her newest venture: helping launch a mosaic ‘satellite’ congregation known as Grace Fellowship North. “I have the nations right here in my backyard,” she shares. “I am ready to pass my blessings along to the people of North Katy and I can hardly wait for Launch Sunday on January 5,” she says.

Pastor Jeff Dietz, who was raised on the mission field in Chile, has also been waiting and working for this moment. “Grace Fellowship’s vision has long been to be a house of prayer for all nations,” he says, “and our research indicates there is great diversity among the 48,000 people in the northeast corner of Katy alone that claim to have no church home, and are in need of the gospel,” he says. “We live in northeast Katy and have been building relationships in preparation for this new bilingual campus located at McRoberts Elementary. “Our core team is 50 strong and all are either bilingual or experienced with other cultures, and we have over 200 volunteers who will help us set up and take down, week after week.”

Getting the Word Out

In addition to challenging church members to build relationships that lead to personal invitations to church, the leadership team has initiated multiple publicity campaigns to familiarize residents with the arrival of Grace Norte. “We are intentionally building relationships, sending postcards and mailers, and are planning a Christmas caroling event in early December where we can hand out invitations to our pre-launch holiday events,” he adds. Grace North will host VBS style Night in Bethlehem event at the school as well as Christmas Eve services in hopes of packing out the gym on January 5. “When we consistently have over 400 in each service, we will look to purchase a building in the area,” he adds. “Some bilingual residents drive as far as Lakewood Church on Sundays, so there is great excitement building for a mosaic church in their own neighborhood!”

Beginning January 5, Grace Norte will offer a service in English and Spanish, led by the same pastor and worship leader to build unity. Hear the excitement building in the hearts of those involved by watching this video:
