TSU Wesley Foundation Helps Stop Hunger in Two Ways

“I will never forget Oct 4th 2014,” shares campus pastor Julius Wardley. “On this beautiful sunny day, my heart was strangely warmed as the Texas Southern University Wesley Foundation partnered with Stop Hunger Now and one of our partner churches, St. Paul’s UMC, for a mission project.

Stop Hunger Now is an international relief agency and their goal is to eradicate hunger worldwide. As he prepared some snacks for the students he was amazed at the number of students continually walking through the doors “There were 59 students helping on the project – and on a weekend, that is noteworthy since the majority of TSU students are commuters,” he notes.

The group combined rice, soy, dehydrates vegetables and made a total 104,000 meals with the help of additional volunteers from St. Paul’s UMC.  He adds, “I am so thankful for our connectional system and sister churches who support Wesley in numerous ways. And once again I was amazed by our Gracious God who is moving on the lives of young adults who are so eager to be the hands of feet of Christ and who want to make a difference.”

Another way to “stop hunger” would be to buy tickets to the TSU Wesley Foundation, Annual Fall FUNDraising event, the Chili Cook-off Challenge on Saturday, December 6, 2014, 5:30pm - 8:30pm at the Wesley Student Center, 3811 Sampson.  Tickets are on sale at $15 per person (12 years and older) at the Wesley Student Center.  Request tickets via txsowesley@gmail.com or call (713) 553-3066 or (832) 588-6413.
