The Gathering 2012 - Charting the Course of Discipleship

8/1/2012

The annual Clergy Gathering is a special time for renewal, relaxation and conversation with your peers. All clergypersons are invited to attend—this includes provisional and ordained elders, deacons, associate members, and part or full time local pastors.

The 2012 event theme is Charting the Course of Discipleship.  It will be held September 17-19, 2012 at Lakeview Conference Center.

Participants will:

·         Examine John and Charles Wesley’s dynamic understanding of grace, theology, music and structure in their time

·         Explore the key elements of spiritual formation in the Wesleyan tradition today

·         Learn the importance of building an intentional plan for discipleship formation vs. merely developing programs;

·         Hear about one process and several tools to build or improve disciple formation in their own congregation

·         Reclaim the power of the clergy-lay partnership in American Methodism then and now

Speakers will include:

Rev. Donna Gaither - recently retired as Executive Director of the Strategic Systems Team at the General Board of Discipleship.

Rev. Tom Albin - currently Dean of the Upper Room Ministries and Ecumenical Relations in Nashville, Tennessee.
