An Interfaith Prayer Vigil for Central American Mothers and Children

An Interfaith Prayer Vigil for Central American Mothers and Children Housed at the Karnes County Residential Center is scheduled for Thursday September 18, 2014 at 6 PM  at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church (408 S Davidson Karnes City, TX 78118).

 

Everyone is welcome to the Prayer Vigil, including members of churches in the county, staff and employees of GEO, residents of Karnes County and others who wish to pray for those 500 mothers and children who have fled violence and abuse in their Central American home countries and currently are being housed at the Karnes County Residential Center https://www.ice.gov/detention-facilities/facilities/karnetx.htm. Prayers will also be offered for policy makers, immigration officials, and for the staff of the GEO Unit who are caring for the residents. Rev. David Collins, Pastor of St. Paul’s, will lead the Vigil.

For those from the TAC who want to caravan, we will be departing from St. Paul’s UMC, 5501 Main Street, Houston on Thursday September 18 at 12:30 pm and returning by midnight.We are requesting rsvp’s to sbroome@txcumc.org so that we can plan for adequate transportation for those preferring not to drive.  We also hope to have a live streaming link for those who want to attend but need to do so from their home locations.
