Students "Collide" with Spiritual Formation
When 250 students from 22 churches gather together – great things happen if the event is called Collide.
Students attending Collide enjoyed choosing from five tracks with weekend workshops during the early part of Annual Conference. Senior high teens attended “What’s After Youth Group” sessions focused on vocation, how to retain your faith in college and practical Q&A sessions with current college students. Others heard about “Missions” first hand from TAC Center for Missional Excellence Director Diane McGehee and two others involved working directly with homeless and human trafficking ministries.
The “Games and Recreation” group learned the importance of play at any age and the “Music” folks helped prepare for worship songs performed at the Opening Session of conference. One of the favorite tracks (of students and adults alike) was “Biblical Storytelling” featuring Dr. Phil Ruge Jones, professor from Texas Lutheran. “Collide was about bringing traditional and new ideas to build a lasting future,” says Lillie Scales, student, FUMC Alvin.
