Alumni to Celebrate Ministry of Lon Morris College


First United Methodist Church, Jacksonville will host a service of celebration of the life and ministry of Lon Morris College on Saturday, January 26 at 10:00 a.m. with a reception to follow. Bishop Janice Riggle Huie will preside and Dr. Ted Campbell, LMC graduate and Associate Professor of Church History at Southern Methodist University’s Perkins School of Theology will be preaching at the event.


This will be the school’s final “homecoming,” and several alumni groups have decided to organize reunions around the event. 


Jack Brooks, long-time Director of Choral Studies, will serve as the choir director and organist for the service. Rhett Ansley ‘01, UM Pastor and former MasterSingers accompanist, will serve as the accompanist for the alumni choir.


The Alumni Choir will rehearse at 8:30 a.m. (the morning of the service) at FUMC Jacksonville. There will be a limited number of seats available and singers should have previously participated in a Lon Morris choir or ensemble. Positions in the choir will be reserved on a “first come, first serve” basis by vocal section.

Dawn Ragan, Chief Restructuring Officer, noted that Lon Morris will make available the balance of its branded merchandise that weekend, for a donation to be designated to go toward outstanding employee payrolls.
