Leadership Forum Explores Four Year Focus

8/23/2012

A first-of-its-kind gathering is being planned for newly elected leaders across the TAC on Saturday, September 15 from 9:30 registration - 3pm at FUMC Conroe. “I am excited to have all of our new leaders in the same room to discuss the ‘Why’ behind our Four-Year Focus, and the ‘What Now,’” says Bishop Janice Huie.

Participants will prepare for the discussion by reviewing a portion of Remember the Future, praying, hearing the importance of answering the question of Why, and exploring the reasons some young people are not involved in a local church.

The Leadership Forum will include an interactive exchange of ideas on the importance of focusing on the young, creating fruitful congregations and creating transforming lay and clergy leaders going forward.

“All of us will benefit by revisiting the question of why we have been called into this time of service, and why our work together, in connection, is critical to the future of the United Methodist Church,” adds Bishop Huie. “I expect our time together to be thought provoking and inspirational as we set personal commitment goals and embark on our strategic journey.”

Elected leaders who have not yet registered can contact Jan Ervin at jervin@txcumc.org to RSVP. Watch for highlights from this meeting in an October issue of the Cross Connection.
