Wesleyan Leadership Conference October 13-15

Date Posted: 8/16/2011

The General Board of Discipleship will be hosting the 2011 Wesleyan Leadership Conference in Nashville on October 13-15. The Wesleyan Leadership Conference aims to help The United Methodist Church recover what it means to be Christian and Methodist in the 21st century. One step in this process is to ask the question:

How do we develop disciple-making communities that are centered in the work of Jesus Christ in the world?

At the Wesleyan Leadership Conference you will explore the vision, message, and method that helped John Wesley lead a revival among the People called Methodists. You will learn how the same vision, message, and method will bring revival in the church today.

About The Event:
Thursday, October 13
Elaine Heath will present the ideas and recommendations in the book she co-wrote with last year’s presenter, Scott Kisker, Longing for Spring: A New Vision for Wesleyan Community, and her own, The Mystic Way of Evangelism: A Contemplative Vision for Christian Outreach. The day will be a combination of presentation with discussion and activities in small groups.

Friday, October 14

The day will be focused on equipping participants with ideas and resources for developing missional, disciple-making communities within and along-side their own congregations.
