Date Posted: 1/5/2011

The Central South District is offering leadership training for lay leaders Sunday, January 30, from 2 - 6 p.m. at the First UMC –West Campus. The theme for the event is: C-H-A-N-G-E (Choose to Have a New Growth Experience).

The training will provide opportunities to address both the programming and administrative aspects of church ministry. “We are very excited about this training opportunity,” said Rev. Lawrence Young, District Superintendent of the Central South District. “Strong and faithful lay leaders are often the difference between growth and decline in the United Methodist Church. Every church that wants to grow should send their leaders to this event.”

Rev. Jim Leggett of Katy Grace Fellowship will be the Keynote Speaker for C-H-A-N-G-E. A chemical engineer nerd by training, Rev. Leggett is the founding pastor of Grace Fellowship UMC - a church plant in Katy, Texas, that God has grown from 22 to 2,700 in attendance in 14 years. Rev. Leggett will also lead a dynamic session in the afternoon at the Leadership Training event entitled, “Apart From Him We Can Do Nothing.”
