Spring Storm Response Update
Thank you to all of you who have given so generously with your time, money, and efforts in response to the devastation caused across our conference by the spring storms. You have truly reflected the love and generosity for which Methodists are known.
Just because the TV cameras have left and the media no longer reports on the damage doesn’t mean we have abandoned our efforts. The Texas Annual Conference is still very active in our efforts to mitigate the damage and walk alongside the survivors to be a healing presence in their lives. We are active in Long Term Recovery in Van Zandt County, transitioning from relief to recovery in the Westbury and Meyerland areas of Houston, and working to address needs in the Wharton / Fort Bend County areas.
The Trinity River has finally started receding, and we are working closely with other volunteer agencies in Walker County to address needs of survivors in the West and Central North Districts. Many other areas were affected, but response from local churches was so immediate that the damage was handled very quickly.
But, we still need your help. We can’t do the work of the Kingdom without dedicated volunteers. Whether you can help for a few hours or a few days, we can find a spot for you. If you or someone from your church or community would like to volunteer, please call Carol Greenslate at 832-857-2135 and let her know when you would like to work.
Only by working together and in connection can we truly show the world what it means to be the hands and feet of Christ.
