Dr. Jim Moore Guest Speaker for Shamblin Lectures

Dr. James W. “Jim” Moore returns to St. Luke’s, UMC in Houston as the special guest for our Shamblin Lectures. Dr. Moore will preach at the 8:30, 8:45, 9:45 and 11 a.m. worship services on Sunday, April 26. Following worship services, there will be a reception in the Fellowship Hall. At 5:30 p.m., he will preach at an informal hymn sing followed by an ice cream social. The theme of Dr. Moore’s lectures will be The Moments That Take Your Breath Away
Dr. Moore is a bestselling author of over 40 books. He is an Abingdon Press’ top selling author, an acclaimed preacher and pastor and an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church. Dr. Moore served as Senior Pastor of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church – Houston from 1984 to 2006. In 2006, after 50 years of active ministry, he retired from full-time ministry in the Texas Conference of the UMC and moved to the Dallas area. He is currently serving as Minister in Residence at Highland Park United Methodist Church.
