A postscript. Some of our Deaf Hurricane Ike team will be returning to visit Donny and his family at their repaired home in March 2010. We are looking forward to seeing all the work that other teams did after our work last year. Donny and his wife are grateful for all that was given to them.

Haitians Get Keys to Clean Water Through UMCOR Partnership

Bert Bagley wrote on 1/26/2010 8:22:38 AM

I think we would all like to receive more information on water purification tablets and how to support this ministry in Haiti and other areas of the world in need of clean water. I know my church would be tremendously responsive on how to help in this effort.

This is a wonderful step in inter-denominational relations. I am thrilled by the prospect of ALL Christians worshiping and working together in this world of distress and violent misunderstandings.

Clergy Excellence Seeks Full-time Candidacy Manager

Tom Teekell wrote on 12/15/2009 11:23:15 AM

The candidacy process is no more complex than it was 20 years ago when I went through it. For the first time, the Conference is recognizing that the actual work load is too much for a volunteer pastor in the Conference to effectively handle. In addition, the concerted effort the Conference is making helping people discern and follow their call has added even more people to the process than typically expected in the past. My perspective, anyway.

Church Launches Advent Advertising Campaign

S. Brubaker wrote on 12/8/2009 12:43:06 AM

As a United Methodist, I was very disappointed to see that God is not mentioned at the 10 thousand door web page. The videos are informative but in whose name is this work done? God is not mentioned. Rethinking church without God is no longer church.

Clergy Excellence Seeks Full-time Candidacy Manager

Andrew Thompson wrote on 11/25/2009 11:44:15 AM

I would also suggest that this position require the creation and maintenance of a searchable discussion board. This online resource would allow candidates to ask specific questions and get specific answers, but it would also publish that information for other candidates with the same questions.

This is a great event for families to come and watch. Native Americans, from toddlers to senior-elders, in full regalia will be dancing to the beat of huge drums played by four to eight people. And it's free.
