Director of Development, Texas Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church

The Texas Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church (www.txcumc.org)  is looking for a passionate and highly organized Director of Development to join our new team. All candidates will need to have five plus years of proven success in professional fundraising, strategic planning and donor relations. The Director will be responsible for identifying individuals who have a passion for ministry and the capacity to financially support our causes. The Director reports to the Assistant to the Bishop.
 
Position Summary
The Director of Development for the Texas Annual Conference will fulfill our Vision and Mission of by creating alternative funding strategies and programs, which support the ministries of the annual conference.  The Director will work closely with the resident Bishop to identify donors, promote opportunities for giving, and coordinate promotional events.  The Director will identify individuals and families who have a passion for ministry, the capacity to financially support those causes, and the willingness to engage others.  The Director will secure philanthropic funds for both current use and endowments that are intended to sustain ministries into the future. The Director will be paid a competitive salary with benefits in accordance with the Texas Annual Conference personnel handbook. He or she will office at 5215 S. Main, Houston and the position is exempt. The Director reports to the Assistant to the Bishop.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Create, direct, and oversee a donor relations program and fundraising initiatives
  • Identify prospective individual and congregational donors and develop strategies to cultivate those relationships
  • Maintain ongoing communications with private, congregational, and non-profit donors
  • Research donor relation programs in local, state, and federal sources
  • Ensure timely and accurate report deliveries to funders
  • Collaborate with staff and/or volunteers on the management and planning of fundraising events and donor receptions
  • Establish relationships with large church pastors for collaboration and mutual support
  • Develop marketing collateral related to fundraising in collaboration with the annual conference communications department
  • Meet fundraising and activity goals on an annual basis
  • Manage budget, volunteers, and support staff
 
Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Communications, Public Relations or related field
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
  • Demonstrated written, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills
 
Preferred
  • 5+ years of fundraising experience
  • Foundation relationship and Grant writing experience
  • Familiarity with Razor’s Edge
  • Knowledge and familiarity with The Texas Annual Conference
