The Charis Spiritual Director Training Program of the Texas Annual Conference will conducts informational sessions about spiritual direction throughout the conference. Open to all, these gatherings explore what spiritual direction is and isn’t, how it differs from other ministries, how it serves individuals and churches, and how one can find a spiritual director. The sessions will also provide an overview of the Charis training program, which will soon accept applications for Class 4.

These gatherings, hosted by Charis board/faculty members, benefit those who are sensing a call to seek spiritual direction as well as those who wish to learn more about the Charis training program. There is no cost and no need to make a reservation to enjoy a time of fellowship, exploration and discovery. You may sign up at one of the gatherings or contact the Charis program coordinator Becky Oates: 713-562-8637 or To learn more about the Charis program, visit the website:

Charis board chair, Rev. Glynden Bode, says: “The training program and the Charis Gathered Community for graduates both serve the entire Texas Annual Conference. In choosing the locations for these sessions, we’ve sought to provide wide geographical coverage. Our training attracts men and women, both lay and clergy, from all districts and we want to continue to represent and to serve all areas of the TAC.”
